Exhibition opening “The Revolutions of the Ring”
Palais Garnier
12h
As part of the new production of Richard Wagner’s Ring Cycle at the Opéra Bastille, the Opéra national de Paris is partnering with the Bibliothèque nationale de France for an exhibition on the Wagnerian cycle—a unique theatrical and musical work, revolutionary in many respects, that continues to fascinate a very wide audience.
Bringing together items from the BnF’s collections, museums, and private collections, the exhibition explores the cultural and political context in which the Ring took root, its formal characteristics, the challenges posed by its performance, and its legacy in the world of the arts.
